I would keep a jar of peanut butter in my desk drawer and eat a few spoonfuls in between meetings because I didn't have time to eat.

I lost count of the number of midnight trains I took from NYC to NJ surrounded by loud, obnoxious, drunk NY Rangers fans (don't take it personally, Rangers fans, it is what it is).

Only to wake up and do it all over again the next morning on the 5:12am train back to the city.

The money, the travel, the NYC corporate experience...it was all worth it...

...until it wasn't.

One Saturday morning...I got ambitious.

You see, the gym was part of my everyday life since I was 12 years old...through college.

But then I started my "big career" and the extent of my exercise was running in heels down 32nd Street to catch the last express train.

That Saturday morning I decided to go to the gym and do a class.

Not 15 minutes in, I start seeing stars, feel light-headed, clammy and cold. I stumble out of back of the class and immediately passed out on the gym floor.

I came to minutes later with paramedics looking over me and the girl from the front desk handing me a Gatorade.

The epitome of embarrassment and self-loathing. Being fit and athletic was always a part of my identity. Now...WTF...I'm passing out in the gym 15 minutes into an EXERCISE CLASS!!??

Two days later I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis.

I'm firmly convinced it was the chronic stress, lack of sleep, poor eating habits, and lack of regular exercise that was the trigger.

And I was BARELY 25 YEARS OLD and no kids!

I left that job shortly after (for several serendipitous reasons...) and started my first company, Body Project, focused on fitness, wellness, and lifestyle for success-driven women.

Since 2007, I've worked directly with thousands of women and men...driven, ambitious professionals who have put their health and well-being on the back burner for too long.

I understand these high-achievers because I am one. I (still) know how hard it is to figure out how to excel at work, make time for fitness, figure out how to eat right, get enough sleep, manage time and energy effectively, be with family, and do ALL the other things that matter to us.

This has been, and continues to be, my mission...to teach goal-driven, motivated professionals a better way to shoulder it all: their work AND life WITHOUT it costing them their physical and mental health and well-being.

There IS a better way...a simpler way.

A better way to being a healthy high-achiever without the peanut butter lunches, drunk Rangers fans, and ambulances!

This simpler way is what I want to share with you during this Day Away. I look forward to spending a Day Away with you and helping you unlock your potential in work, life and all that matters most!

I'm in your corner,

Lindsay
